The statement said this was arrived at during a meeting held on Sunday and attended by the deputy governors of those states and head of security agencies.

The objective of the meeting was to form a Zonal Task Force to combat militant attacks on persons and government facilities along the waterways, it said.
The statement said that the zone would work out the modalities for a joint operation room to coordinate the activities of the task force.
The statement quoted Ogunsakin as saying that the task force would deploy technologically-driven intelligence mechanism to actualise its goal.
