www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state will play host to the delegates of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) during its 56th National conference scheduled for Awka, Anambra state capital.
Anambra state Chairman of STAN, Dr. Mars Anaekwe announced this when he led the Executive members of the Association in Anambra state to pay a Courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha at state Secretariat, Awka.
Dr Anaekwe said the courtesy visit was to intimate the Ministry and commissioner of the extent of readiness of the branch to host the delegates from 36 states of the Federation and Abuja at the Federal Science and Technical College Awka from 17---22nd of August 2015.
Anaekwe ,who is the Director of Academic Planning and Statistics at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, Anambra State, informed that the one week academic fiesta promises among others to enhance the capacity building of science teachers in the state Primary and secondary schools.
He said the event would also promote State tourism potentials and show-case the developmental strides of APGA Government in the State.
The Association also solicited for the support of all the Stakeholders in the Education Industry to make the Conference a success.
Responding the Education Commissioner, Prof Omenugha expressed her pleasure with the preparations so far made by STAN, and promised to intensify her effort to see that the Association meets one- on- one with His Excellency the Executive Governor of the State, Chief Dr Willy Obiano in planning for a successful National Conference.
The Opening Ceremony of the Conference is expected to be declared open on Tuesday 18th August at Women Development Centre Awka, by the Governor.
Other activities lined up for the week include Quiz and Project Competitions, Lectures, Workshops, guided tours among others.
Meanwhile, STAN paid a similar courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Science and Technology as well as the Chairmen Post Primary Schools Services Commission (PPSSC) and Anambra state Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Awka.
At PPSSC, Lady Joy Ulasi, Executive Chairman, Post Primary Schools Services Commission (PPSSC) and Chief Nzemeka Olisa, Executive Chairman Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB),Awka respectively urged STAN Executives to go ahead with their sensitization visits and to plan ahead for the Conference as they have their full support.
And at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Engr. Ogbaji who received the Exco on behalf of the Commissioner promised to relay the message to appropriate quarters.
Other members that accompanied in the visit included Dr Chibuogwu Nnaka, Immediate past Chairman of the Branch, Dr Chinwe Njelita, State Secretary, Rev. Sr. Prof. Bene Ezeliora, Dean Faculty of Education Chukwu Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, and a host of others.
