Obiano, Aregbesola, Mark, Ekweremadu felicitate with Muslims

The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has urged Nigerian Muslims to use the spiritual ascendancy they attained during the just concluded Ramadan season as a formidable tool to rebuild the fabric of national unity and reaffirm Nigeria’s common destiny as one indivisible entity.

In a special Sallah message issued in Awka on Friday, Governor Obiano expressed the optimism that Nigeria would be the ultimate beneficiary of the spiritual re-armament from the Ramadan season pointing out that Nigeria is a nation in need of healing.

Said he: “The mortification achieved from the fasting period must enable us to take a spiritual stock of our lives as a nation and reaffirm our common humanity and our unity as a country.”

Also, Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has assured the people of the state of greater development despite the current financial crunch bedevilling the state.

According to him, development and peace as well as the welfare and well-being of the people would remain the top priorities of his administration.

The governor gave the assurance yesterday in Osogbo, the state capital, during the eid-el-fitri celebration, where he urged Muslims in the state, Nigeria and the world to champion the cause of love and peaceful co-existence.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun at the Lantoro praying ground in Abeokuta, shortly after he observed the eid-el-fitri prayer, urged all Nigerians to rise against the challenge of insecurity posed by the Boko Haram menace.

Governor Amosun said that the incessant spate of bombings in the country, especially in the North- East was a shame to the nation.

He added that it was embarrassing and unfortunate that during Ramadan fasting period, members of fundamentalist group still perpetrated violence and killings.

In the same vein, former Senate President David Mark and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu yesterday congratulated the Muslim Ummah on successful conclusion of Ramadan.

In separate goodwill messages to Muslims, the two lawmakers urged Muslims to carry the lessons and virtues of love, tolerance, and perseverance imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan into every aspect of their daily lives in order to move the nation forward.

Senator Mark also seized the celebration of the eid-el-fitri to advocate community policing in order to boost the war against terrorism, adding that community policing would be a panacea for insurgency because every one would be involved.

“I am convinced we can overcome our challenges, including insecurity, if we come together in an honest, sincere and committed manner…”

On his part, the Deputy Senate President noted that Nigeria would be a better place if the political class closes ranks and makes necessary sacrifices in the interest of the country.

“Eid-el-Fitri reminds us that we who have been given the opportunity to lead in particular must lead by example in forbearance and patriotism to steer Nigeria on the part of speedy development”, he added

While also wishing the Muslim Ummah a hitch-free celebration, Senator Ekweremadu called on them and all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and development of Nigeria.

Senator representing Ogun East, Prince Buruji Kashamu, also urged Nigerians to make personal discipline a way of life in the spirit of the eid-el-fitri celebrations, noting that experts have said forming new habits normally takes between 21 to 28 days.
