Sallah: NSCDC arrests 2 over cow theft in Nasarawa
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa said on Tuesday that it had arrested
two suspects for allegedly stealing a cow worth N95, 000 to celebrate the Sallah.

Mr Alexander Barunde, the NSCDC Deputy Commandant (Operation) in the state, told newsmen in Lafia that the suspects were arrested on Monday.

According to him, the suspects were arrested following a tip off from sources at the cattle market at Shinge, near Lafia.

Barunde said one of the suspects was given seven cows to rear and he conspired with the other suspect to sell one of the cows before they were both arrested.

He said investigations were still on to ascertain if they had other accomplices.

Barunde said the case would be handed over to the appropriate authority for prosecution when investigations were concluded.

He urged members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to security agencies, especially as the Sallah festivity approaches.

The NSCDC official also said one of the suspects had confessed to committing a similar offence during the 2014 Sallah celebration.

According to him, the suspect stole four cows during the last Sallah celebration and sold them in Otukpo, Benue.
