The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, said on Thursday, that his administration had no plan to sack civil servants in the state.
Rather than downsize, the governor said his administration would reposition the civil service for better efficiency.
El-Rufai was reacting to the retirement of 20 permanent secretaries which had heightened tension in the state as workers in the state believe that the retirement was a prelude to the mass sacking in the state.
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity in Kaduna, the governor said the retirement had nothing to do with the “rumoured” mass sacking in the state.
El-Rufai maintained that five of the permanent secretaries were due for retirement in the next few months but that he willingly fast-tracked their departure.
No plan for mass sacking in Kaduna, says el-Rufai
