National Health Insurance Scheme is fraudulent and Against Medical Health Practice – Dr. Nwabueze---lashes out at National Assembly lawmakers

www.odogwublog.com reports that the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, has been described by a medical practitioner from Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Dr. Peter Nwabueze as fraudulent and replete with 419 against Nigerian patients by the Federal Government.

Dr Nwabueze against the believe that the scheme is for better health of Nigerians said at his Umuru village, Ogidi: “in the National Health Insurance Scheme, they use cheap drugs but for me in my hospital I will say pay me this amount of money for a better drug”.
“I will treat you, give you the drugs you need” If I give you good drugs, the government will not remunerate for that drug instead they will pay me the same N500 paracetamol and all the other drugs I used, it is 419”, he stated.
He reiterated the need for the practitioners to de-emphasis money but rather emphasis health’’.
According to him, “private hospitals treat better and if you do not have the finance the doctor will prescribe the drugs for you to go and buy and he will charge you for consultation”.
On dearth of medical doctors in Nigeria as they rush for employment overseas he said in overseas they are better paid than in Nigeria. It is a failed government. Instead of paying us what is obtainable overseas the government will prefer to employ expatriates who give concoctions”
“As a medical practitioner I said I will not leave this country. I pay instalmentally for costly medical equipment which the government can equally do the same thing. Nobody is his brother’s keeper in this country, you are always on your own”.
“When a poor patient comes to my hospital it is his health that I look at not money because he may not have the money, collect from the rich to fill up what the poor will pay you.
It is outside the country that they recognize you, like what you do and they remunerate you accordingly”.
“If the leaders in government can realize that those are professionals and are paid what is supposed they will not leave the country”, Dr. Nwabueze stated.
According to him, “the man in the Senate earns N29 million monthly which is N348 million a year and the common civil servant earns about N18,000 a month which is N216,000 yearly”.
“It is because of our failed government and they buy from the same market”, he stated further.
