IT WAS a tragic Monday for the family of Nwobodo in Ngwo, Udi local government area of Enugu State,
as their son, Chukwuebuka Nwobodo was stabbed to death three days after his traditional marriage.
The 29-year old bricklayer was murdered at Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State by his colleague, Ugochukwu Umeje, a native of Opi-Nsukka in Enugu State over a football issue between Manchester United and Chelsea.
According to an eye-witness, the problem started from the controversy concerning the competency of John Mikel Obi and the rumour of his transfer from England to United Arab Emirate. As the argument continued, they started abusing each other, which prompted the deceased to call Ugochukwu a 'son of a prostitute' which aggravated the young man.
Ugochukwu having received series of annoying words from the victim according to our source, could not control his temper again which led him to stab Mr. Nwobodo with a chisel. The eye-witness also stressed that the murderer ran away for his dear life immediately he committed the grievous offense.
Commenting on the issue, Mr. Ekene Offia who is a Sports Analyst, advised people to stop taking issues concerning European clubs as their personal matters in order to maintain peace and unity in the country.
Meanwhile the deceased has been deposited at the Diocesan Specialist Hospital, Akwudo, Nnewi.
