For threatening a man of God and vowing to cause injury on him, a 32-year-old man, Emmanuel Amaechi, has been dragged before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, on a one-count charge of threat to public peace.
Amaechi who claimed to be a freelance writer, according to the prosecutor, Sergeant Oluseye Oyebamiji, had threatened to injure Pastor Adewale Taiwo of the Victory International Church, Ibadan, on July 17.
Oyebamiji told the court that on the said date at about 1.00 pm, the accused had entered the church located at Oluyole Estate and threatened to injure the complainant.
The prosecutor said the accused told Taiwo to pay N150,000 to his bank account and was angry that the money was not paid.
When the charge was read to him, Amaechi pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, P.O. Adetunyibi, granted him bail in the sum of N150,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to August 8 for hearing
