Kwara United lose to visiting Sharks Fc for another home loss

Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin on Sunday lost 0-1 to Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, their second loss in two consecutive home games.

In the Match Day 17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game played at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin, Christian
Pyagbara scored in the 24th minute to hand the visitors victory.

The  loss thus condemned the hosts to one of the last three places on the log.

The win was the first game in charge for coach Festus Allen of Sharks who was returning to the city where he made his first name in the job.

Kwara United as usual continued their poor show in front of goal again and wasted too many goal scoring chances, with Segun Alebiosu the worst culprit.

Centre referee M.S. Dansule from Adamawa awarded a penalty kick to Kwara United in the 40th minute, but Dare Ojo sent it wide to the anguish of the home fans.

They were however denied a goal through the flag of Assistant Referee One Abraham Iribor, after Babalola Azeez had nodded home what he thought was the equaliser.

At the match wore to its end, some of the home fans called for the head of Tunde Abdulrahman, the coach of Kwara United.

They went on to further show their displeasure by applauding the away team and giving them a standing ovation.

Allen, a former coach of Kwara United’s city rivals Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC, wallowed in the moment by going round the stadium to greet the fans.

Reacting to the match in an interview, Allen said it was a collective responsibility and not about him.

“The process has just started and we will like to build on from here.

“My target now is to take Sharks out of relegation,’’ he said.

Kwara United will now travel to Nnewi in Anambra to face FC IfeanyiUbah in a week 18 game on Wednesday
