‘I haven’t demanded anything from Buhari,’ APC leader says

President Buhari and Bola Tinubu exchange pleasantries at the Villa on July 14, where the President hosted APC members.
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 stated that he has not made any demands of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu also said that he is firmly loyal to Buhari’s cause and that he shares the President’s beliefs on governance.

The APC leader made the comments while speaking to journalists after breaking the Ramadan fast at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“I have no demands. If you understand what party politics and leadership is all about, it is about loyalty and commitment to the values, which the leadership believes in,” Tinubu said.

“I believe in what the president believes in. I respect him and I stand firmly loyal to his cause. So you can go to any length of speculation that you might want, I have not responded to all of that because I understand the president and the president understands me clearly,” he added.

Tinubu was however hesitant to comment on the National Assembly crisis which had rocked the APC saying:

“That is an area where I am very cautious of my position and my utterances. I still want to keep my side of the interpretation or analysis to be able to achieve a resolution of the matter as quickly as possible.”

The APC was plunged into crisis when Senator Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara defied the party to emerge leaders of the National Assembly.
