How former Old East Central state first lady Late Chinyere Asika was laid to rest in Onitsha

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Willie Obiano has described the Late First Lady of Old East Central State, Chief Mrs Chinyere Asika as a patriotic woman who until her death remained committed to the Nigerian project and the development of Anambra State service.

Among other dignitaries who attended the burial service were former Defence Minister, General Theophilus Danjuma, Former Governor of the State, Chief Peter Obi, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Inter-party Affairs, Senator Ben Ndi-Obi, former Vice-President, Dr Alex Ekwueme among others.

 Governor Obiano was speaking during the burial of the Late Chief Mrs Chinyere who was the wife of former Administrator of Old East Central State, Late Ajie Ukpabi Asika, held at All Saints Catheral, Onitsha.
 The Governor who described death as an inevitable call which all mortals must answer, recalled how the Late First Lady had continually called on him with prospects to advance the State describing her as a peaceful woman.
 He urged her Children and members of the family to take solace in the fact that having lived a good life, the deceased is resting in the bossom of the Lord, advising them to immortalize her by upholding her positive legacies.
 In a tribute, a former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon attributed the successes recorded by the Late Ukpabi Asika as administrator of the Old East Central States in the reconciliation  process that trailed  the Nigeria-Biafran civil war to the supportive stance of the deceased.                   According to him, the assistance of Governor Obiano towards the burial was highly commendable and would have keep citizens in the path of patriotism and selfless service. 
 Earlier in a sermon, the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, the Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo who noted that one of the country's biggest challenge is corruption emanating from uncontrolled desire for wealth and power, reminding christians that they brought nothing into the world and therefore they cannot take anything away from it.                                 Responding on behalf of the family, the first Son of the deceased, Mr Obi Asika thanked the Governor and all who commiserated with them during their period of grief and said with the legacies of humility and service left by their parents, they will continue to live in unity.
