The Nigeria Football Federation may have soft pedaled on a decision to banish goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama from the national team over his controversial comments regarding the safety of Kaduna for last month’s African Nations Cup qualifier against Chad.
The decision may not be unconnected with the furore that greeted the saga which included the Lille goalkeeper tearing a query given to him by the federation.
“Enyeama will now pay a fine and this will be treated internally,” a top official told africanFootball.com
The ex-Enyimba goalkeeper is the most capped Nigeria international after he made his 101st appearance for the Super Eagles against Chad in Kaduna.
Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has already been fined for his dismissal from the same match.
