Do Not Jettison Youth Friendly Programmes---Ezeemo tells Buhari

www.odogwublog.com reports that a Philanthropist, Publisher of Orient Daily Newspapers and
Magazine, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo has  appealed to  President-Elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, not to jettison youthful oriented programmes inherited from  outgoing government.

Ezeemo,made the appeal on Friday in Awka when who was speaking to youths of Southeast Geopolitical zone under auspices of Nigeria Youth Volunteer Service (NYVS), conference entitled “Nigeria South-East Youth; The Way Forward”.
He appealed to  the incoming administration to invest more on youth development and empowerment in order to create a crime free  society .

He lamented that youths have been schemed out of the socio-economic and political aspect of the country for long, and called for a caution, so as to move Nigeria forward.

Ezeemo was represented by Mr Churchill Okonkwo disclosed that he relocated most of his economic investment to Igbo land .

He said that his business especially was at his rural community Umuchu Aguata Local Government Area to impact lives positively  at the grassroots through massive employment and quality service delivery

 He  called on Igbo’s of political class, captain of industries, among other stakeholders to join force in restructuring the ethical standard and values of Igbo nation through creation of employment, trainings and empowerment of youths.

Also speaking, a promoter of African culture,  Dr. Ramas Okoye -Asuzu reiterated the needs for the government at all levels to formulate and initiate friendly programmes and projects that will enhance the interest and image of the youths .

Okoye-Asuzu said that through capacity building, value re-orientation, seminars, workshops, skill acquisition training and empowerment that the yout would be more useful to themselves .

 He said that if youths are well positioned that  politicians would stop using youths as tools for violence and corruption during and after electoral process
He urged politicians to partner with the government, civil society groups, churches, schools, others to actualise social contract with the Nigerian Youths in place of using them selfishly .

The Anambra State Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Elder Chris Eluemuno, represented by the Wing Commander (Rtd), Afam Ayika charged youths to remain focus and ever determined to achieving their visions in life.

The  guest speaker, Prof. Kunle Obidike averred that punctuality, perfect understanding and avoidance of procrastination is of great value to youth emancipation.

The outgoing Area Manager of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Awka Area Office, Mrs. Linda Egbonu, while disclosing their readiness to training and retraining of Nigerians, called on youths to imbibe the spirit of nationalism and ethical behavior in all their endeavors.

The Grand Patron of NYV South  East and Traditional Ruler of Nibo, HRM Eze Ugonwanne Michael Ngene, says that conditions that promote healthy youth development are supported through programmes .

He called for such activities in schools and communities, as youths when engaged in learning and practicing what they learnt are less likely to engage in risky or self defeating behaviors.

Earlier speaking, Mrs  Ruth Okeke, the Anambra State Volunteer Superintendent, who represented other officials in the Igbo speaking states, reiterated the needs for people of the zone to look inwards and marshal out workable plans,

She said that pragmatic and realistic steps for the emancipation and engagement of leaders of tomorrow, because according to her, future posterity of nations is secured through youths.

 Mr. Ifeanyi Animalu and  Miss Ngozi Ike, participants of the conference   vowed to be the generation of youths free from bribery and corruption.
