Dancing is 'the shortcut to happiness'

It is no surprise that dancing has been known to make people happy, however, there is now fact to back up this popular belief.

According to a Swedish study done on 112 teenage girls who were struggling with problems including neck and back pain, stress, anxiety, and depression, dancing  improves mental health and boosts the mood.

They also discovered that the positive effects of dancing are long lasting, the girls who attended weekly dance classes still portrayed the positive effects for eight months even after the classes ended.

The lead study author, Anna Dubert, of Sweden's Center for Health Care Sciences added;

"According to these results, despite problems such as stress and other potential challenges in being an adolescent girl, dance can result in high adherence and a positive experience for the participants. [This] might contribute to sustained new healthy habits."

Concerning the many mental benefits of dancing, Author Vicki Baum once said, "there are shortcuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them."
