Breaking News: DSS Boss Sacked

Nigeria President, President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Ita Ekpenyong, the former Director General of
the State Security Service. Mr President however, through a statement issued from the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation appointed Mr. Lawal Musa Daura as the DG of the agancy.

But there are certain thing Nigerians should know about the sacked DG. Below are some of the facts:

    Ekpeyong was born in Cross River State.
    He studied at the University of Calabar, obtaining a BA (Hons) in History in 1982, and then a Masters in Philosophy.
    He was the first director of the Institute of Security Studies in Abuja, a training school for Intelligence Officers.
    He then was appointed director of the Senior Staff Development Centre of the SSS in Bauchi.
    Ekpenyong held in turn the positions of SSS director in the states of Bauchi, Kwara, Lagos, Anambra and the Federal Capital Territory.
    He also served as Acting National Director (Operations) of the SSS
    Ekpeyong was appointed Director General of the State Security Service on 7 September 2010 by President Goodluck Jonathan.
    On the 2nd of July 2015, Ita Ekpeyong was sacked by the President Muhammadu Buhari and was replaced by Lawal Musa Daura
