www.odogwublog.com reports that the scheduled congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party at the, ward, local government and state levels in Anambra State have been shifted to commence on Wednesday. All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is jubilating over the crisis in PDP.
Despite that over five factions of the party are poised to compete for the soul of the party in the state, a Zonal officer had put up an announcement asking delegates to ensure they obtained their forms by paying cash at Enugu office yesterday.
The same source informed contenders to ensure they pay to the bank on Tuesday preparatory for the Wednesday congresses against the plans to make sure people were disenfranchised sequel to public holidays on Friday and Monday.
The Punch had reported that those leading different factions of the PDP in Anambra include the former governor, Peter Obi; the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh; Tony Nwoye, Chris Uba and Annie Okonkwo.
The Nwoye-led faction, otherwise known as the Anambra PDP Stakeholders, had accused Metuh of using his position to hijack the party in the state. The accused him of succumbing to the blackmail of Emeakayi to expose his N150 Million fraud in order to return him back.
In a statement in Awka, the PDP Stakeholders, called the National Working Committee to shift the proposed congresses to another week to give room for interested parties to obtain their forms.
The group, in defending the request for postponement, said the PDP National Working Committee should put into consideration the two-day Sallah holiday.
But the Metuh faction said there was no need postponing the evil day, saying that they would want the congress to be held as scheduled. They alleged that some money bags were being used by the All Progressive Congress to destabilise the PDP in the state.
Ken Emeakayi, who is being touted as Metuh’s annointed candidate for the PDP chairmanship in the state, briefed reporters in Awka, the state capital, on Monday where he said that some PDP bigwigs had been working for the APC in Anambra in order to ruin Metuh.
Emeakayi said there was no crisis in the state PDP and that the party was ready for the congresses, starting at the wards level today.
The party had chosen July 22 for the local government congress, while the state congress comes up on July 25.
The Obi-led faction has however insisted that the central senatorial district of the state would produce the state chairman of the party.
The group asked the PDP NWC to call Metuh to order to avert crisis.
Yet, the Uba faction of the party insisted that the Ejike Oguebego State Executive Committee of the party remained, saying there is a court judgment to back up the claim.
