WIFE
of Anambra State governor, Ebelechukwu Obiano has called on Nigeria youths to
imbibe reading
culture and maintain moral values.
Chief Mrs Obiano revealed this during a book
launch at Sun-City Hotels, Awka, Anambra State.
Mrs Obiano who was represented by her Senior
Special Assistant (S.S.A) on Media and Event, Dr Ify Mmadukasi noted that
education is the meal ticket of tomorrow.
Mrs Obiano stressed that Anambra State
government had invested tremendously on education which has resulted in
excellence performance of students in internal and external examinations.
In supporting education, Mrs Obiano observed
that the state government recently sent some teachers to Hong-Kong for
training, adding that when they are back, they would impact more on teachers,
and also the students.
“When you go to schools, there have been
improvement on infrastructure and the welfare of teachers and students”, she
added.
She called for attitudinal change among the
youths and to uphold the core value system.
In his remark, the chairman of the occasion,
Alex Asigbo maintained that the problem of “Ndi Igbo” was lack of reading
culture and stressed on the need for proper re-orientation.
Reviewing the book, “Nigeria Core Values and
National Development”, the former chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA),
Awka branch, Stanley Mbanaso pointed out that chapter 1 to 13 captured
morality, social justice, respect, self reliance and almalgation among others.
In his words, “Now that this book has
provided us with a credible platform for this necessary campaign towards
national rediscovery, I am optimistic humanity at large must make it a must
read and invaluable archival treasure for generations yet born.
Narrating his motivation, the author of the
book, Leonard Chukwudi Akaolisa observed that Nigeria had every resources, but
lacked the core values for a better development.
