www.odogwublog.com reports that despite the knock out handed over to the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh by Anambra PDP, he has bounced back and in control of party machineries for Wednesday’s congress.
This is even as the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) National Work¬ing Committee, (NWC) has declared that its decision to hold ward, local government and state congresses of its Anambra State chapter this week was in compliance with a court directive.
National publicity secretary of the main opposition party, Olisa Metuh in a state¬ment at the weekend assured the party faithful in the state of a transparent, free and fair exercise while pleading for their cooperation.
The statement read in part: “Following inquiries by our members, especially those in Anambra State, the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to clarify that its decision to fix the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses in Anambra State this week is in obedience to a court directive to this effect.
“The NWC believes that the congresses would help to strengthen PDP structures in the state and pave the way for the final retake of Anambra State by our great party in the next gubernatorial election.
“The NWC assures all par¬ty members in the state that in line with its commitment to internal democracy, every machinery has been put in place to ensure transparent, credible, free and fair process at all levels of the exercise in the state.
“In this regard, the NWC enjoins all our members in Anambra State, particularly key stakeholders to work together to ensure that conducive atmosphere is created for hitch-free congresses as the party would not hesitate to apply the law on any violation of its constitution.
“The NWC hereby assures all aspirants at all levels that the Sallah public holidays would not be a hindrance to their obtaining nomination forms, as directives have been given to allow the issu¬ance of the forms upon payment of cash to the appropri¬ate quarters.
“The national leadership solicits the cooperation and understanding of relevant stakeholders, particularly the security agencies to en¬sure smooth conducts of the congresses at the ward, local government and state levels.”
