Absence of witnesses stalls trial of NBC manager Olubusoye Ayodeji accused of stealing N68 Million


An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, adjourned till September 9, the trial of a former manager with the Nigerian Bottling Company charged with stealing the company’s N68m.

Magistrate O.I. Adelaja, adjourned the case after the prosecutor Insp. Richard Odigie told the court that his principal witnesses were not in court.

Adelaja, however, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum.

The accused, Olubusoye Ayodeji, 40, is facing two charge of conspiracy and stealing of company funds.

Odigie had earlier told the court that the accused committed the offences between the months of June 2011 and 2014 at the Bottling Company in Iddo, Lagos State.

He said the accused, who was the acting plant /logistics manager, stole the money from the coffers of the company.

“The offences contravened sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011,” Odigie said.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to charges.
