Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio has been appointed Minority Leader of the Senate.
The eighth Senate resumed today, July 28, 2015, after adjourning on June 25.

He was nominated by the South-South caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was favoured to win the slot after receiving wide support from his colleagues.
An Abuja Federal High Court, on July 22, rejected an application seeking to stop him from being named minority leader.
