10 escape death in Nnewi auto crash

No fewer than 10 passengers and pedestrians escaped death by the whiskers yesterday along Nnobi-Nnewi Road when an L300 Mitshibushi commercial bus with registration number, Enugu BB 455 ENU which was said to have left Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State lost control in Nnewi and knocked two pedestrians into the gutter before it veered across the road and ran into a heap of sand.
The accident which occurred a few minutes past 8am caused traffic jam before the arrival of the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) from Nnewi unit command, led by Mr. C. O. Ebuta, who helped in clearing the traffic and taking care of the victims, though those seriously injured had been taken to hospital by sympathisers before the arrival of the FRSC officials.
Eyewitnesses said the driver of the bus had a break failure and swerved across the road where he hit two pedestrians, who were seriously injured.
Those in the bus sustained various degrees of injuries except a six-month-old baby.
