The Topic was COSTUME AND MAKE-UP DESIGN IN THEATRE AND FILM PRODUCTIONS: THE REALITY OF MAKE-BELIEVE
The Speaker was PROF TRACIE CHIMA UTOH-EZEAJUGH, the author of Forest of palm trees and many others
It was THE FIRST INAUGURAL LECTURE BY A FEMALE PROFESSOR IN THE FACULTY OF ARTS!


Tracie Chima Utoh-Ezeajugh is a Professor of Theatre and Film Design. She studied Theatre Arts at the Universities of Ife, Jos, and Port Harcourt and a member of Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA)

Tracie Chima Utoh-Ezeajugh is a Professor of Theatre and Film Design. She studied Theatre Arts at the Universities of Ife, Jos, and Port Harcourt, all in Nigeria. With a Ph.D in Theatre Costume and Make-up, she has been involved in teaching and practical exhibitions at the Department of Theatre Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. She is a playwright with many published plays to her credit. Her published plays include Our Wives Have Gone Mad Again! Every Day is for the Thief, Cauldron of Death, Who Owns this Coffin? Forest of Palm trees, The Night of a Thousand Truths, Out of the Mask, Nneora: an African Dolls House and Olamma. Her plays are widely read in secondary schools where they have consistently been in the syllabus since 2003.
She has edited many Theatre Journals and an anthology of African plays. Her articles have appeared in local and International academic journals. She has written many Children’s Literature books and collections of African Folktales. She is a Rockefeller Fellow (2008) and a Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) in their African Humanities Programme (AHP) 2009/2010. She is currently the 1st National Vice President of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA); Director of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Centre for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities, and a member of the NUC National Technical Committee on Nigerian Universities Arts and Culture Festival. Professor Tracie Chima Utoh-Ezeajugh, received the 2013 SONTA….Award
