Umeh was a visionary leader – APGA

The new leadership of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has said that the over eight- year
administration of the immediate past National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh was successful as it was in line the original vision of the founding fathers.
The party was apparently reacting to comments credited to one Barr Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu, former Abia State Chairman of APGA to the extent that “Chief Umeh destroyed vision of APGA founders”.
APGA’s National Director of Publicity, Mr. Ifeanacho Oguejiofor, in a statement yesterday dispelled the remarks he described as ranting of a drowning man.
Oguejiofor said the appraised the over eight- year management of the party under Chief Umeh showed the party performed credibly well as it was repositioned to compete favourably with other major political parties in the country.
He argued that Chief Umeh had never misled the original vision of the founding fathers, before he handed over the Party to Dr Victor Ike Oye the current APGA National Chairman.
He attributed Barr Prince Ukaegbu’s grievance to his suspension from the APGA over alleged anti party activities by the defunct leadership of Chief Victor Umeh.
According to him, “Ordinarily, APGA would have ignored his bogus, insidious and insinuating statements but for the record. Thus, Chief Victor Umeh had never misled the original vision of the founding fathers, before he handed over the Party to Dr Victor Ike Oye the current APGA National Chairman, after a successful Party convention, on 6 June 2015, in Awka.
“Furthermore, contrary to Barr Ukaegbu’s misrepresentations, Dr Victor Ike Oye had never been a card carrying Member of PPA, as he wanted the public to believe. Dr Oye was a formation member of the Party before INEC registered it in 2002 and he has been a faithful party member since then.
“More so, he emerged as the National Chairman of the Party due to his intellectual pedigree, political clout and strong commitment to the Party’s ideology. And not because of where he comes from. Moreover, every geo-political zone of the country is well represented in the new Leadership, as APGA is a National party with strong Igbo support,” he said.
He explained further that, “The new APGA Leadership of Dr Victor Ike Oye and the like mind, is very focused and making concerted effort on its mandate, to build a cohesive and strong Party that is grass root based and committed to the general well-being of all Nigerians.
“Therefore, it will not be distracted by the antics and ranting of people like Barr Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu, who had always worked against the interests of the Party and as usual, is now crying wolf.”
