Ubosi emerges Enugu Assembly speaker

The member representing Enugu East Urban Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Ubosi, has been elected as the
Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly.
The development followed the inauguration of the House on Monday.
Curiously, the Governor of the State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was absent at the inaugural session.
Rather, his proclamation statement was read on his behalf by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Christopher Chukwurah, who equally presented the governor’s goodwill message to the lawmakers.
Our correspondent learnt that Ubosi was backed by the former governor, Sullivan Chime.
Unfolding developments in the state indicate that Chime will play a major role in his successor’s administration.
Ugwuanyi is yet to announce any appointment, more than a week after he was sworn in as the state governor, but feelers suggest that Chime is pushing to make a considerable input in the composition of the incoming state executive, as well as in the appointment of key aides.
