TWO men, Lawrence Ekwuoma, 28, and Keluo Nwafor, 24, were recently
arraigned before L.C. Okoye
of senior magistrate court, Awka, over a
two-count charge of conspiracy to assault, and assault occasioning
grievous bodily hurt on one Chukwudi Anowai.According to Corporal John Ogbonna, the prosecutor, the two persons allegedly committed the said offences on 26th January, 2015 at Mbaukwu town in Awka South L.G. within the Awka magisterial district.The said offences are punishable under sections 25 (a) and (b) criminal Code Act cap 36 Vol II, Revised Laws of Anambra state, 1991.
The prosecutor further informed the court that the attack by the accused persons damaged the complainant, Chukwudi Anowai’s left eye for which he was rushed to the hospital.
However, the two accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The court later granted bail to the accused persons following an oral application by their counsel, Mr A.A Odum, Esq. Magistrate Okoye however ordered the accused to provide one surety with N100,000.00 each.
The two sureties according to her, must deposit an evidence of employment with Anambra State civil service.
The case was adjourned to 10th July, 2015 for hearing.
Meanwhile, another man, Christian Okoye was also docked before the same court over an allegation of forgery and fraud.
