NANS_CONSTITUTION REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING @ EKITI STATE
HIGHLIGHTS OF CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS:
1) Making NANS Gender sensitive by ceding 3 Offices to the female members of NANS. They are: a) Vice President Special Duties and Gender Affairs. b) Treasurer c) Ex- Officio 2 P.S: This clause doesn't exclude the female members in contesting any other office of their choice, say National President or Senate President for instance.
2) Eligibility: a) Age: Between 18 and 35 years b) A matriculated Student, with GPA of 1.0 c) No University Diploma Student is eligible to contest d) Polytechnic Pre- ND and College Pre- NCE are not eligible e) Polytechnic ND 1 to HND 2 are eligible f) College NCE 1 to NCE 3 are eligible g) No remedial is eligible and h) Post Graduate students are eligible i) Ex convict are not eligible to contest k) Of good character.
3) Nomination of Convention Planning Committee (CPC): 4 members each from each zone, making it 16 members plus 4 zonal coordinators of NANS and National ASG. Bringing the total number of CPC members to 21. In nominating the CPC members, NANS President and Senate President meets. The President brings 9 members, while the Senate President brings 7 members. The names are to be forwarded to the Senate House by the President and Senate President of NANS for ratification at the Pre-Convention.
4) Source of Finance: All member Student Union Government (SUG) are to pay #1000 dues into a central NANS Account. Any Student Union Government (SUG) that doesn't pay the annual due; a) Losses her seat at the NANS Senate floor b) No Student can contest with the school ticket and c) Losses other special privileges.
