FIBRIODS are non-cancerous (benign) tumors that grow from
the muscle layers of the uterus (womb). They
are also known as uterine
fiborids. The singular of uterine fibroids is uterine fibroma. Fibroids are
growths of smooth muscle and fibrous tissue. Fibroids can vary in size, from
that of a bean to as large as a melon.
Fibriods affect at
least 20% of all women at sometime during their life. Women aged between 30 and
50 are the most likely to develop fibriods. Overweight and obese women are at
significant higher risk of developing fibriods, compared to women normal weight
malignant (cancerous) growths on the smooth muscles inside the womb can
develop, and is called leiomyo sarcoma of the womb. However this is extremely
rare.
I am married for 5 years without a child and my doctor told
me that I have fibroid. Please Doctor lIonzo what is the cause of this?
A fibroid is a
benign tumor made up of muscle and fibrous tissue which grows in the muscular
wall of the womb. Fibroids often produce no symptoms at all but they are known
to cause heavy menstrual bleeding and may contribute to infertility. The growth
of fibroids seems to be related to a hormone imbalance, especially an excess of
the hormone oestrogen. If you suffer heavy periods over several months please
have this checked out. With any condition that is linked to hormones you really
need to detoxify and support the liver. (See one of my books herbs and your
health questions and answers part 1. page 50).
Food for fibroid
Soya-based foods
such as soya beans have a regulating effect on oestrogen levels and are
protective against aggressive oestrogens.
Don't overcook your
vegetables and make fresh vegetable juice every day, drink immediately after
juicing.
Eat plenty of foods
containing natural carotenes such as melon, sweet potatoes, carrots, spring
greens and spinach. Eat more almonds, cod liver oil, avocadoes and wheat germ
which are all rich in vitamin E.
Reduce or Eliminate
Any foods, which can
cause elevated oestrogen levels or will recycle oestrogen into its aggressive
form. These include alcohol, animal fat such as cheese, milk, meat, cream, ice
cream, butter and chocolate.
Don't eat and heat
ready-made meals in plastic containers as the plastic residues leach into the
food which, again has an oestrogen effect.
Avoid as much as
possible non-organic foods that are often high in pesticides and herbicides
which migrate to fatty tissue and increase
oestrogen activity in the body.
Useful Remedies
Soya is of lavones,
50-100mg, for regulation of hormone levels, and wild yam to help keep excessive
bleeding 1-3ml in tincture or 1-3 grams of tablets CPHA advise using natural
progesterone cream which can help reverse fibroids.
