She gave the charge
recently while declaring open the 15th
annual general meeting of heads of nursing schools in
federal health institutions held at Dannic Hotels, Enugu.
The deputy governor
who was a special guest of honour at
the occasion said that nursing is a major player in health care delivery and
nurses constitute the largest segment of health care providers. She added that
the health sector was a major issue of concern to any government and that Enugu
State government would continue to support the sector.
The deputy governor
commended the heads of nursing services departments and principals of the
nursing schools for their response to issues affecting the welfare of humanity.
She urged the participants to take the conference serious because the
deliberations would help them to be more effective in clinical matters.
In a remark, the
chairman of the occasion and former Registrar of Nursing and Midwifery Council,
Mr. Philip Ndasu said the
conference was aimed at bringing together heads of nursing
schools to discuss issues relating to nursing education and practice.
He noted that it
would afford them opportunity to share experiences and report on the present
global nursing practise.
