Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the victory of the Enugu state
governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has been requested to amend the facts in
his petition at the on-going Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Enugu.
In his submission at the tribunal recently, counsel to the petitioner,
Mr George Ogara said the move followed the conclusion of the forensic
inspection of materials for the April 11 Governorship Election in the state.
Ogara said that the privilege to inspect the election materials had made
him more determined in his bid to prosecute the matter and get justice.
The counsel told the court that he had served the parties involved the
outcome of the forensic inspection.
“On May 16, 2015, the tribunal granted us two weeks for the inspection
of all conceivable materials used in the conduct of the poll. We have now come
back to show what we found out in the course of the inspection which was done
in the presence of the respondents and electoral umpire,” he said.
The counsel expressed optimism that the tribunal would heed to their prayers including the annulment of
the election and a conduct of a fresh governorship poll in the state.
Counsel to the respondent, Mr C. Ukeh said he was yet to study the
report of the forensic inspection. He
pleaded the tribunal to grant him more time to look into the report.
