Bribery scandal rocks Anambra House as Hon Chigbo Enwezor speaks on the Bribery scandal

Enwezor has cleared the air on the alleged bribery scam between
government appointees and the members of Anambra state House of
Assembly.


Hon Enwezor in an interview with newsmen clearly stated that the
Anambra state House of Assembly had never at any point obtained any
form of financial inducement from any appointee presented to the house
by the governor for approval or confirmation.

He urge the general public to disregard any news averring that the
honorable house members of the 5th assembly were involved in any form
of bribery in the course of discharging the duties they where elected
for, as he opined that such rumors where been fabricated by enemies of
the state.

"Its important for me to reinstate unlike what people think, that they
have never been anybody who comes to this house for the confirmation
of appointment that this house has requested anything from, we have
conducted our duties responsibly."

He boasted that nobody could indict any legislator of the 5th Anambra
State House of Assembly of bribery, corruption or gross misconduct as
they all carried out their duties with integrity and candor.

"There is nobody that will come to this house to say we collected
anything from him or her in other for us to perform our duty. We have
performed our duties to the best of our abilities knowing that we are
doing the work of the people of Anambra state".

The lawmaker further explained that the out-going 5th assembly had
performed relatively well and had passed relevant bills that have
assisted in the development of the state, as he pointed out that the
progress was achieved because of the maturity and understanding
exercised by lawmakers during the last four years of legislative
assignments.

"This house has done well, one is that we have not had any fracas for
the past four years, no acrimony, people have been able to conduct
themselves amicably. This has helped us pass lots of bills that have
been very useful to the state. There are lots of wonderful bill passed
by this house". He affirmed

He thanked God for the opportunity to serve his people and assured his
constituents of more quality and effective representation as he
proposed that "the house needs to develop and improve on some issues.
The quality of debate should be improved on. And when bills are
presented we need to increase in the number of contributions that
enhances the quality of the bill and that educates the people and that
what the parliament should be noted for"
