Ubah: I’ll make Nnewi Nigeria’s Mecca of football

Proprietor of new Glo Premier League side, Ifeanyiubah FC, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has declared that his
dream is to see Nnewi become the new Mecca of Nigerian football.
Ubah who early this term acquired Gabros FC from Chief Gabriel Chukwuma told Daily Sunsports in Nnewi when his side faced Sharks in a Glo Premier League tie that he would turn the club into a- must- watch side in the nation’s domestic league.
The youthful business mogul who sat with Super Eagles manager Stephen Keshi  and President of Nigeria Football Supporters Club Dr Rauf Ladipo at the VIP box during the week 9 tie said he is happy with the presence of Keshi and other soccer bigwigs in the match.
“You can see that our matches are beginning to attract who is who in Nigerian football. In nine weeks we have played host to virtually all the national coaches, scouts from different parts of the world. This is encouraging and my vision is to turn Nnewi to the new Mecca of Nigerian football. Come next season we will be hosting clubs from Africa because I m confident we are going to pick a continental ticket and play in Africa next season.”
Ubah said he is sure the club will get CAF’s nod to play in Nnewi when the club eventually go continental given the fact that he is building a world class arena that would be ready in a matter of months.
“You can see that we are constructing a new stadium that would boast of the best turf in the country. The contractor is working round the clock to get the place ready. We are going to bring African teams to Nnewi and use football to boast Anambra tourism industry,” Ubah stated.
He was full of praise for his team after the 1-0 victory secured over Sharks, even as he pledged to keep motivating the team in a special way.
“We have a very solid side and I m impressed with their performance so far. I will continue to boost their morale to ensure that they keep getting result. At the beginning of the season, I gave all the coaches brand new cars and the players are earning fantastic salaries and their camp is quite comfortable. All these I have done to ensure they deliver,” Ubah said.
