Ebonyi State government has called on security agencies to investigate sponsors of fresh hostilities at Ezza-Ezillo in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.
Recall that last week, there was tension in the troubled area as human and vehicular movements were halted for three days along Enugu-Abakaliki expressway by irate youths.
The recent crisis, it was gathered, started when Ezza detainees who had been in prison custody for over one year, were released without knowing that the disputed land had been declared a buffer zone by the state government.
Consequently, the state government, through the deputy governor and governor-elect, Chief Dave Umahi, summoned stakeholders of both Ezza and Ezillo to an emergency meeting in his office at Government House, Abakaliki.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the two–day meeting by leaders of thought of the warring parties and read by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Boniface Chima, the stakeholders said the status quo should be maintained in the disputed land.
They called on security agents to investigate the sponsors of the fresh hostilities and invasion and report same to the government within six weeks.
According to them, anyone staying in the disputed land should vacate within 24-hours and defaulters will be treated as criminals.
