www.odogwublog.com reports that Igede Development Association has urged the Federal and Benue
governments to reduce the hardship in Benue State by constructing the about 93 kilometers Otukpo–Oju-Uwokwu road.
The President of the association, Anambra Chapter, Mr Patrick Akobo, made the call while speaking to newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra.
Akobo further revealed that the road would shorten the distance between the South-East, South-South to Abuja and other part of the North Central areas of the country.
``The road linking Otukpo and Igede people is a major road beneficial to Agbaja of Izzi LGA in Ebonyi State (on the right) and Cross River State (on the left).
``It would be an easy access for the three states mentioned to get to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
``And would give easy access to evacuating farm produce from these three states to the northern part of the country through Abuja.
``While the six million people, who are predominantly farmers, already trapped due to bad and inaccessible road would have a way of moving out to other parts of the country.
``The wastage of millions of tubers of yam and cassava each year due to the very bad state of the Otukpo-Oju road; through Uwokwu town to Ebonyi State, would be checked,’’ he said.
Akobo said that he believed that constructing the road would further help open Benue State for other social infrastructure from the Federal Government.
