CONGESTED FRSC EMERGENCY TOLL FREE LINE

A technical evaluation of the performance of the Call Centre of the Federal Road Safety Corps has revealed that emergency calls by motorists and other road users through the Corps’ toll free line (122), often do not get across to the Call agents at the FRSC Call Centre.


According to the Corps Public Education Officer, Imoh Etuk, “this has been discovered to be due to the crowding of the line by Airtel subscribers who erroneously believe that the line is still the Airtel customer care line”.


Worried by this trend which no doubt, negates the Corps’ drive to deliver on its statutory mandate, the Federal Road Safety Corps wishes to inform motorists and the general public that the same line which was formerly an Airtel customer care line, was duely assigned to the Federal Road Safety Corps since July 2012, in response to the Corps’ quest to scale up its rescue services through seamless interface with the Nigerian motoring public.


For avoidance of doubt, the general public should note that sequel to the acquisition of the toll free emergency (122) line by the FRSC, it therefore ceases to be used by the Airtel rather, the code number for the Airtel customer care is now 111.


This notice is necessary due to congestion of the line by non related calls as the  line is dedicated to motorists and other categories of road users to draw the attention of the Corps to traffic situations, especially where there were gridlocks, obstructions, road crashes and other traffic-related challenges. Alternatively, the Corps can also be reached via 0700callFRSC that is 070022553772, a 12-digit emergency line.
