Breaking News: Peter Obi again, donates 2 Million naira to St Augustine’s Nkpor for Library upgrade

www.odogwublog.com reports that the former Governor of Anambra State Mr. Peter Obi said that one of
the marks of patriotism was the urge to assist in making the world a better place through positive human acts that ennobled the society.

Obi was speaking when he visited St Augustine’s primary and secondary school at Nkpor. After interaction with students and visit to the school’s facilities, Obi presented a cheque of 2 Million Naira to help them equip their library and upgrade their laboratories. He promised continued assistance towards surmounting some of the problems facing them. The money, according to him, was part of the money he attracts from corporate organisations and private individuals and shared among schools in Nigeria, especially in his home State of Anambra.

Obi who visits and average of one school per month since he left office, explained that he visited only schools not owned by the Government. He said inasmuch as he did his best to re-position the education system when he was the Governor, but that Government alone could not solve all the problems facing the institutions of State without the assistance and cooperation of the people.  He said it was infinitely better and fulfilling to spend money that would go into costly wine and other Epicurean indulgence in contributing to the future of the society through support to schools.

Responding, the manager of the school, Rev Fr. Enwedu Chinedu thanked the former Governor. Describing him as a worthy example without parallel, he noted that he did wonders for the schools in Anambra State when he was the Governor and has continued to remember and assist the schools even when he is no longer the Governor. He called on other wealthy sons of Anambra State to emulate Obi and donate money to schools rather than use then to indulge on fleeting things.

Earlier, the Principal of the School, Mrs Philo Okeke said that the school benefitted a lot from the State when Obi was the Governor and had surprisingly continued to benefit from him thereafter. He assured him that the students would reciprocate by being serious in their studies and by praying for him.
