The
Liaison Officer to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State in Nnewi South Local
Government Area, Hon Jerome Ifeanyi Igwe has attributed the All Progressives
Grand Alliance, APGA
overwhelming victory during the April 11 State House of
Assembly polls to Obiano’s doggedness and articulated political sagacity.
Hon
Igwe said at Ebenator in Nnewi South that the opposition had wished to form the
majority in the State House to frustrate smooth administration of the Governor
but had been disappointed at the polls by the wishes of the electorate.
He
said that the same victory would have been recorded by the APGA in the March 28
National Assembly election “except that we were rigged out but we are sure to
regain our mandate at the tribunal”.
He
congratulated Hon Rita Maduagwu and Hon Kingsley Iruba on their victories in
the State House of Assembly election for Nnewi South Constituencies 11 and 1,
respectively and other APGA stakeholders in the council area.
Commenting
on the victory, President-General of Ebenator community, Chief Cletus Esomonu
said that one of the major reasons his community voted for the APGA was that
Governor Obiano had been the first Governor to pay attention to a gully erosion
menace at Ubaha in Ebenator now under control after over two decades “during
which the erosion submerged many houses, rendering many villagers homeless as
well as destruction of economic trees and domestic animals.
Esomonu
who pleaded with the Governor that the project be completed in record time,
also thanked him for appointing one of their illustrious sons, Hon Igwe as the
Liaison Officer to the Governor in the council area, adding that it was the
first political appointment coming to the community from the State.
He
expressed the hoped that the appointee would later be elavated to a higher
office, even as he pleaded with the winners of the State Assembly election in
the area to carry everybody along during their tenure.
