Two policemen die in Anambra monarch’s convoy crash

Two policemen attached to the traditional ruler of Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area of

Anambra State, Igwe Robert Eze, were feared dead in an auto crash on Friday.

The incident occurred at Abatete in Idemili-North Local Government Area about 5pm on Thursday when the policemen were on their way from Ideani in Idemili-South council area.

Their vehicle was among the convoy of Igwe Eze, who were coming from the burial of the traditional ruler of Ideani, Igwe H O Okoye. The vehicle, a Hilux truck, veered off the road into the bush.

It was suspected that the driver lost control of the steering wheel due to the slipperiness of the road, following a downpour.

The driver of the vehicle was unhurt while the fourth occupant of the vehicle was seriously injured.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Uche Ezeh, said he had not got any signal pertaining to the incident.
