Suswam Weeps, vows to contest election results in court

Governor Gabriel Suswam literally wept for losing his bid to represent his people of Benue North
East senatorial zone and  has vowed to contest the Benue North East Senatorial election result released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Barnabas Gemade was announced winner.
In the result which was announced by the returning officer, Prof. Ignatius Adah, Suswam who contested on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) polled 118,603 votes, while Gemade scored 140,715 votes to emerge winner in the election.
Addressing newsmen in Makurdi, Suswam’s agent, Prince Solomon Wombo who rejected the result as declared by INEC wondered why INEC accepted the result of four wards in Konshisha Local Government Area after the PDP rejected it.
“We objected the results that was brought by the returning officer of Konshisha because the elections in four wards of Iwayam, Bakusa, Mbater and Mbakasen were not accepted without any cogent reason. The PDP had protested the results of these four wards, where we noticed over-voting but, the INEC REC did not do anything about it.
“If they could accept the results of these four wards in Konshisha, why did he agree to cancel the results in Logo? This is a full fledged injustice and it is unacceptable to us” he said.
Wombo, who accused the resident commissioner of INEC in the state, Prof. Istifanus Dafwang, of having sympathy for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, insisted that the result was doctored.
