Anambra re-run breaking news 2:Senator Andy Uba chased away from polling unit, escapes attack

www.odogwublog.com reports exclusively that Senator Andy Uba was  chased away from his
polling unit located within St. Peter's Catholic Church, Uga during the yesterday rescheduled election for Aguata 1 state constituency seat in Anambra state House Assembly by some thugs suspected to be working for one of the political parties in the election. Had it been he did not disappear the youths led by Williams Umeh were indeed aggrieved and would have lynched him as they laid all blames at his desk.

Williams Umeh and Nnaemeka Ezenyelimba as well as Mazi Okechukwu Nwokoye were livid on the roles alllegdly played by Senator Andy Uba insisting they want free and fair election. They refused any election to take place until ballot papers are made available.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived the polling unit at about 10.45am for accreditation but found to his chagrin that the Electoral Officials could not commence accreditation because some hoodlums allegedly stormed the INEC local government distribution centre and charted away the sensitive materials, especially ballot papers and Result Sheets meant for the election.

He was still in his car making phone calls, apparently to contact officials of the INEC at the state headquarters when some thugs numbering about 50 stormed the centre which has two polling units, and, he quickly zoomed off with his aides to avoid attack by the thugs most of who were identified by some of those waiting to be accredited as none indigenes of the area.

Shortly before he left the polling unit in a hurry, Uba has sent one of his aides to invite newsmen present to express his dissatisfaction with the situation at the polling unit but could not because the suspected hoodlums who were brought to the polling centre in about two buses and a jeep suddenly arrived before the interview started.

www.odogwublog.com  learnt that though voting later started at the two polling units under the strict supervision of the process by the suspected thugs, as at 3.15pm, Uba had not returned to the polling unit.

Violence also erupted at the Otiogbata polling units 0014 and 0015 as voters and members of some political parties complain of non-availability of sensitive materials. One Mr. Linus Madukwe told www.odogwublog.com that INEC official came to the polling units without result sheets and ballot papers, so they refused to present themselves for accreditation until the sensitive materials were produced.

Eze Aghaeri, chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Uga Ward 1, told newsmen that the re-run election has again been characterized with the same malpractices that led to the cancellation of the earlier poll. He accused desperate members of one of the political parties of trying to rig the election in favour of their candidate.

The re-run election was however held in four state constituencies. They included Aguata 1 , Anaocha 1 and 11 as well as Ekwusigo state constituencies.

Though minor violence was recoded in a polling unit in Nri, Anaocha 1 state institute cry, the re-run election went on very peaceful in the affected polling units in Anaocha 11 and Ekwusigo.

The national Co-ordination, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Stakeholders, Chief Sylvester Nwobu-Alor, stated that the re-run election was peaceful in Anaocha because the state governor has assumed full leadership of the APGA and has involved the party elders in taking decisions that seriously affected the party.

At Agulu ward Ward 3 located inside St John's Catholic Church, Agulu,  Dr Ejike Imoka (Mmili Agulu) described the process as peaceful  adding that he did his accreditation with the Card Reader but lamented the cancellation of the initial election they did which affected the re-run.
