www.odogwublog.com reports that the Nice
Micro Finance Bank Nise, Manager, Nneka Oragu arrested over missing N15 Million naira
has cried out to the Human Rights
Groups in Anambra state to intervene in her
case.
Nneka from
Nsukka , Enugu state is worried that the person that authorized the release of
the cash is free while herself carrying the orders of the bank owner is dumped
in detention for 8 days without trial .
The
relatives who spoke to www.odogwublog.com
on condition of anonymity are alleging that the police officials were given
N300, 000 to ensure her side of the story is swept under the carpet unknown to
them that she has deposed her statements on the matter with appropriate authorities
in charge of human rights .
According
to them , she lamented that she has been held for 8 days without attention to
herself as a woman as if she is a criminal whereas she is not.
They said
she has authorized contact with some layers and civil society groups like Civil
Liberties Organization (CLO), Intersociety and FIDA among others to intervene in
the humiliation.
Oragu, the
Bank Manager , Nice Micro Finance Bank Nise , Eke Awka Branch was declared
wanted in some National Dailies last year over missing N10 Million fraudulent
transactions.
But after
months of hiding , she surrounded herself to the police about 10 am last week
Monday but was immediately arrested and dumped into the cell since then on
orders of the Bank Chairman.
But Nneka’s
startling revelation on how the transactions went and why she should not be
held liable but that the police should rather beam its search light to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank
led to the invitation of the Board Chairman , Sir Chris Onoh . He was detained
but released on self recognition and endorsement of the former Chairman, Igwe
Romanus Iloh, police sources said. Onoh is the President
General of Nise town Union.
It would be recalled that Nice Micro finance bank was
known as Nise Community bank before it was upgraded to Nice Micro finance bank.
It has branches across Anambra state with headquarters at Nise Ngene-Awka
junction.
The money allegedly missing according to the police
source was over N15 Million but currently the bank estimates it to N10 Million
rather than N8 Million initially dangled before the public.
The magnitude of the fraud already exposed to the
police by Nneka indicted some members of the Board and another statement by a sacked
senior staff of the bank at another branch who was said to have reigned implicated
in some other sharp practices in the bank.
Police source said that the fraud perpetuated against
shareholders of the bank has ran some of the bank’s branches aground.
The former Chairman of the Bank/ traditional ruler of
Nise , Igwe Romanus Iloh, or the present Chairman, Sir Chris Onoh could not be
contacted as their phones were not connecting as at press time.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Uche Ezeh said
he is yet to be briefed by the CID allegedly handing the case as at press time.
