Singer
cum actress, Gift Uwame, a.k.a Muma Gee, who got married to star-actor, Prince
Oluebube
Eke, shortly after participating in that groundbreaking Celebrity
edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search won by Emeka Ike in 2011, has taken a
swipe at her love story, revealing that she went through a purification stage
before she finally married her husband.
In
a recent chat with HVP on her marriage life, the Rivers State-born singer
confessed that there was no man in her life at the time she met her husband,
even though she had friends then. “I stopped keeping friends the moment I got
born again. I went through a purification stage at a time and that was months
after he came into my life,”she reminisced.
Asked
if she was surprised getting married to a Nollywood actor, Muma Gee replied: “
I was not surprised because I prayed over it and God opened my eyes to see
things myself. I asked God to show me signs and those signs came to pass.”
Speaking
further, Muma Gee, whose marriage was blessed with twins, Caesar and Cleopatra
few years ago, also revealed that she did observe courtship with her husband,
because “I don’t believe that what will be will linger for too long before
coming into fruition.”
How
did she meet her husband, you may want to ask? “After the Celebrity edition of
the Gulder Ultimate Search, Emeka Ike, who was my best friend during the
reality show, was doing a child dedication. I did not know that my husband was
one of his best friends that attended the dedication. We met inside the church.
Emeka introduced us to each other, and that was how our love story started.
Thereafter,
my husband proposed to me the same day I met him. He knelt down to propose to
me. Though the ring came much later. But since then, I have remained his
faithful wife. I wouldn’t say it was love at first sight because there no love
in the first place. The love that existed between me and my husband has been
that kind of love that grew with time. For me, it was a divine calling to be
with him as a wife.
Describing
marriage as a wonderful experience, Muma Gee said she’s still learning the
ropes.“I hear everyday that marriage is an institution that one never ever
graduate. So, I am still learning, It has not been easy, yet it has always been
easy and enjoyable too. There are moments when you want to do certain things
but you can’t because you are a married woman.”
According
to the singer-turned-politician, she was attracted to her Prince Eke because of
his intellect. “When he opens his mouth to speak, you have no choice but to
listen to him. He sounds like a wise man, and his native intelligence attracted
me to him. I inquired about his educational background and he told me that he
had a masters in psychology.”
Talking
about her controversial nature, Muma Gee thundered, “I have always been like
that, in the sense that people hardly know the homely part of me. Until I
participated in that Celebrity edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search, people
never knew that I am domestically good. I allowed people to continue to hold
different opinions about me. You can’t go about knocking on people’s doors just
because you want to correct an impression people have about you.
They
are seeing another side of me. But you see, I can’t learn a new trick now. I am
matured enough and I have never been a troublesome entertainer.” On divorce,
Muma Gee said she doesn’t believe in it, adding, “ This is because my mother
never divorced my father even though he left us too soon. But there are cases
that can lead to divorce.”
I
wouldn’t say he’s lucky, rather he’s a man that came to fulfill God’s plan in
my life. On how her family reacted to her marriage, she said they were
indifferent at first. This is because “They wanted us to go into courtship, but
I insisted that I am a born again Christian; that I didn’t want to go into
courtship. I wasn’t in a hurry, but I didn’t want to commit any sin at stage of
my life. This is because I have cleansed myself.
