Miracle of the century: Four-month-old baby rescued in Nepal quake as over 5,000 killed

under rumble and has been rescued from the rubble of the earth quake that rocked Nepal on Saturday, despite that over 5,000 people have been officially confirmed killed and over 11,000 injured.
The baby, whose name had yet to be identified, was said to have been rescued by soldiers 22 hours after the incident.
The Independent reports that the child had let out a faint cry which was traced to the site of the rubble.   Incredible images of the moment the baby was rescued have emerged. The Nepalese newspaper Kathmandu Today published images of the dust-covered baby boy as he was pulled to safety by members of the army assisting the ongoing search-and-rescue effort.
It was said that soldiers initially missed the child as they searched through the wreckage for survivors. He was found from beneath the ruins of the building, leading them to check the entire area again.
Nepal Prime Minister, Sushil Koirala, had on Tuesday, put the death toll from the disaster to over 4,000. Reports on Wednesday indicates a rise in the number to over 5,000 while rescue mission continues
Nepal’s National Emergency Operation Center said the death toll had reached 5,057 and that nearly 11,000 people were injured in the quake. Officials have said it was impossible to tell how many bodies remained buried — meaning the death toll could continue to rise.
“The government is doing all it can for rescue and relief on a war footing. It is a challenge and a very difficult hour for Nepal,” Koirala told Reuters.
Thousands of people have been internally displaced by the incident, according to the National Emergency Operation Center, while about eight million people have been affected.
