The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has described President Goodluck
Jonathan’s concession of
defeat in the March 28 Presidential election as a move
which “saved the nation from political chaos and violence.”
The President of PFN, Reverend Dr. Felix Omobude, commended the
president for enabling a peaceful election, adding that his action was a true
demonstration of sportsmanship in the interest of the country.
Omobude, in a statement on Thursday, also congratulated the
President-elect, Major-General Mohammadu Buhari on his victory in the
presidential poll.
He said, “The PFN shares in your aspiration to move Nigeria forward and
hope that with the support of Nigerians, we can together build a strong, virile
and united nation where no one is oppressed.
“We commend President Jonathan for his
courage and spirit of sportsmanship in accepting the outcome of the elections.
This has saved the nation from political chaos and violence.
“The PFN call on all Nigerians to continue
to maintain peace and order and engage in things that will unite us and
strengthen our democratic values.”
