Ondo State
Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has urged Maj. Gen. Muhammadu
Buhari (retd.) to
be magnanimous in victory and govern Nigeria with the tenets of the rule of
law.
In his Easter
message while speaking with newsmen in the Government House, Akure on Friday,
Mimiko congratulated Buhari for his victory at the recent presidential
elections and commended President Goodluck Jonathan “for his show of
sportsmanship.”
The governor
appealed to the newly elected president to work towards fulfilling his
electoral promises to the Nigerian electorate, particularly on bringing about
change, which was integral to his campaign.
Governor Mimiko,
who assured of his administration’s partnership with Maj. Gen. Buhari in moving
Nigeria forward, also congratulated President Jonathan for calling and
congratulating Buhari, even before the final tally of votes.
He described
President Jonathan’s action as a step in the right direction to further deepen
Nigeria’s democracy.
Meanwhile, Mimiko
in his Easter message, implored the people of the state to emulate the love
demonstrated by God to mankind by making His son a sacrifice for the sin of the
world.
