A member of the Bayelsa State House
of Assembly, Mr. Obedient Emoto, has passed
on at the age of 59.
Emoto, who represented Ogbia
Constituency II in Ogbia Local Government Area, died on Tuesday at a hospital
in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following health complications.
His friend of over two decades and
former Acting Governor of the state, Chief Nestor Binabo, confirmed the
development. Binabo, who described Emoto’s death as tragic and devastating,
said the late lawmaker was a man of exemplary character.
Emoto, who was elected on the
platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, lost a second term ticket in controversial
circumstances last year.
Some of his constituents described
him as a selfless and honest lawmaker while others referred to him as a man of
exemplary integrity.
His friends also said the late
lawmaker who hailed from Ologi community in Ogbia, had outstanding leadership
qualities.
