APGA dead in Anambra —Hon Ogene…even says ''Ndigbo now politically irrelevant''

Incumbent representative of Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of
Representatives, Sir Victor Afam Ogene, yesterday declared the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as a dead political party in Anambra State.
Ogene who left APGA and joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, where he re-contested for the Ogbaru House of Representatives seat at the March 28,2015 election and lost, said the outcome of the elections of last Saturday has finally buried APGA.
Addressing journalists in Awka, yesterday on various issues, like how he feels about the outcome of the March 28 elections in Ogbaru area in particular and Anambra State in general, Ogene accused Chief Victor Umeh and other key leaders of mismanaging  and leading APGA to death.
He described APGA as a party of egoistic individuals. Ogene who rejected the manner the APGA ticket for the Ogbaru Federal Constituency seat was taking away from him and  handed over to the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Princess Chinwe Nwaebilli, stated that the entire people of Ogbaru are happy that the Speaker lost her bid for the Ogbaru House of Representatives seat on Saturday.
Expressing his happiness over the manner APGA fought and lost the Ogbaru House of Representatives seat, Ogene contended: “I as Afam Ogene would side with the people of Ogbaru in ensuring that nobody is imposed on them. We have proved to them that power belongs to the people. The governor and his candidates failed woefully and that’s enough victory for us”.
He described as bad, worrisome and unacceptable, the way Ndigbo have excluded themselves from the current political process by rejecting APC and failed to elect any of its Senate and House of Representatives candidates who contested in the March 28 elections.
Ogene regretted that the Igbo race who were known for their wisdom and political sagacity, have now reduced themselves to a position of irrelevance in the current political dispensation, all contrary to the cherished legacy left behind by great politicians like Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dr Mike Okpara and Dr Chuba Okadigbo, all of blessed memory.
Ogene said: “I don’t know why we have gone down so much that we have become a laughable race. I am happy that my party won the presidential election yesterday, however, it also represent a sad day for me because it was the first time Ndigbo are left out entirely from the Nigeria politics. Perhaps, we are the only people who are going home from this battle empty handed and I am waiting to see what our leaders would tell us now”.
He accused Ndigbo of engaging in deliberate mercantilist politics of fending for themselves and their families only, as against the noble politics of fending for the overall welfare of the people.
Ogene also used the opportunity of his interaction with journalists and reacted on their readiness to welcome any key defector from APGA now that the political equation has changed in favour of APC.
