Our
Ward Collation agents in Ichi Ward, one of the 12 wards State making up
Ekwusigo Local Government Area and Ekwusigo State Constituency in the State
House of Assembly, has informed us
of the frustration of Collation at the Ward
Collations Centre in Ichi Primary School.
In
conjunction with the APC Situation room the Ward Collation Agent had come with
a petition and prepared an objection on Polling Units 004 and 010 for serious
irregularities contravening the 2015 Electoral Act as amended and INEC
regulations for the 2015 General Elections.
Rather
than the collation taking place in Ichi Primary School as designated, the Ward
Collation Officer of INEC simply claimed to have been instructed to proceed to
the Local Government Collation Centre in Ozubulu.
He
therefore handed over his objections and petition to our Local
Government/Constituency Collation Officer, who proceeded to Ekwusigo Local
Government Office in Ozubulu, only to be locked outside the premises, even
while he wore a proper identification tag.
He was locked out along with other agents.
He was locked out along with other agents.
This
matter is being brought to the notice of the general public, with a proviso
that APC will take all possible steps within the law to ensure that the people
of Ekwusigo are not short-changed , and that the electoral process conforms
with relevant statutes.
We contend that it is wrong to skip the process accreditation in the wards in Ekwusigo LGA as we have seen in all previous elections this year, and unless corrected, such a step shall not be allowed to stand.
