The Anambra state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has urged all the
defeated National Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) in the March 28, 2015 election to accept the loss gallantly.
Addressing journalists in Awka in reaction to a statement credited to the state’s Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Tony Onyima on behalf of the state governor Willie Obiano, that APGA actually won but were robbed of their victory, the immediate past chairman of PDP in the state who was also the party’s 2015 Elections Operations Committee chairman in the state, Ken Emeakayi said that Anambra has always been a traditional PDP state.
He saw the flickers of political success by APGA in the state as a mere flash in the pan attributed to former governor Peter Obi. That the support for APGA was never skin deep but superfluous and superficial. That PDP has now woken up and was poised to take back the seats, including the governorship come 2017.
Emeakayi disclosed that PDP is going to legally challenge the results of Anambra East/Anambra West Federal Constituency as well as that of Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency both of which were won by APGA.
Onyima in his presentation described the result as great injustice. He therefore appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to investigate the whole result.
Emeakayi stated that the results were sequel to a painstaking campaigns, hardworking and grassroots mobilization by the PDP while APGA went home sleeping.
