Anambra: APGA accuses INEC of double standards

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State has accused the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) of   deliberately diverting its victory in the State House of Assembly election at Aniocha 1 and 2 constituencies to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing journalists at Neni, the Chairman of Aniocha Local Government, Ikeobi Ejiofor, said elections in Aniocha I and II constituencies were fraught with fraud perpetrated by INEC and some power brokers in the area.
Ejiofor said his party won in the two constituencies, adding that APGA defeated the PDP in Aniocha I constituency with more than 900 votes and with more than 2,000 votes in Aniocha II constituency.
He stated that INEC discarded the authentic result and adopted a fake result written by some stakeholders in the election, which favoured the PDP.
He alleged that there were multiple accreditations at Nri, leading to the arrest of some people by the policemen, who visited the area on election day.
According to him, any result declared by INEC that did not conform with the result collated by the party’s agents was not acceptable to APGA and would be challenged in court, adding that APGA had the authentic result, which reflected the votes cast by the people of Aniocha Local Government Area.
The chairman said despite that some voters were hired from Delta State and other places by PDP, his party still won in the two constituencies.
He, therefore, called on INEC to release the result of the election in which Aniocha people demonstrated their wish for representation in the House of Assembly.
Speaking in the same vein the chairman of APGA in Aniocha Local Government Area, Chief Ifeanyi Orji described the House of Assembly election in the local government as the most rigged.
Chief Orji said that APGA people were not protected during the election, pointing out that some of them were molested and beaten up.
He called on INEC to declare the APGA candidates on the local government as winners of the election.
In his own contribution, the candidate for the expressed surprised that both soldiers and police could connive to be a threat to democracy.
