TUC commends Job creation mantra of Obiano administration, urges it to ensure nothing distracts him from fulfilling the promise



www.odogwublog.com reports that the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Anambra state council and the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Anambra state
branch yesterday appraised the one year in office of Governor Willie Obiano , saying that should he continue in that regards Anambra state would not only be investment destination before his first term in office ends but would be devoid of unemployed youths.

The Chairman urged all civil servants in the state to ensure that the Permanent Voters Card (PVC), they collected is used to vote massively for APGA government led by Governor Willie Obiano which is the only government that has put smiles on the faces of workers in the state since creation of the state.

Anambra state Chairman of the Union, Comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu said Obiano is still on target in his mantra of leadership but appealed to him to ensure he is not derailed by sycophants.

The Association also commended the humane disposition of the state government in adjusting salaries of state civil service to be at par with the local government workers by beefing it upward to 15%. The Association salutes the sense of justice displayed by the Governor by this act and sees in him a man that hates injustice by correcting the wrong.

TUC Boss insisted that Governor Obiano’s announcement of creating of over 134,000 jobs at fruition his development and investment mantra for the state is anything to go by, then the state would be without unemployed youths within a record time.
He reminded that Governor Obiano himself had during his one year in office said ‘’In Agriculture alone, we expect over 59,000 direct and indirect jobs. In Oil and Gas, close to 28,500 direct and indirect jobs will be created.In Trade and Commerce about 20,000 new jobs.In Industrialization over 11, 500 jobs. In Tourism and Hospitality over 6,000 jobs. In the Real Estate sector over 9,000 jobs will be created. NdiAnambra, this translates to over 134,000 jobs and this is only the beginning! Beyond that, we are currently equipping 500 youths with life-enhancing skills at the technology Incubation Center in Nnewi. The youths will be trained for two months in diverse technological skills after which they will be given the start-up capital to begin their own businesses. We shall continue to train 500 youths in the programme every two months to build up a pool of talents that will fuel the dreams of the New Anambra. Thankfully too, in the past year our State’s economy has grown at the rate of 14%! Over this same period, we have improved our tax receipts by 300%’’.
Comrade Okechukwu who is also the  Anambra state Chairman of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria commended the Obiano’s government for renovating 862 units of 10-classroom blocks across 21 local government areas of the state as well as disbursing of N733 Million to mission for renovation of mission schools.
He said the distribution of 220 laptops to private schools and  kick starting of safe schools initiative by fencing and fortifying schools with school marshals in the state is a welcome development.
TUC thanked Obiano’s wife for facilitating scholarship for over 100 students and the free education awarded to physically challenged in the state especially those at Special Education Center in Isulo, Orumba-South rebuilt by Obiano’s wife.

Comrade Okechukwu pointed out further that ‘’The Association was grateful to His Excellency for taking cognizance of workers’ sensitivity by putting on hold the deduction from workers of 5% from their salaries to pay for pension component and the 5% out of the 15% salary adjustment to be used for contribution by workers for their pension. The Association stated that the action of His Excellency spoke volumes of His Excellency’s personal concern for the workers’ plight and pray that God would reciprocate this good deed of His Excellency.

 The TUC Chairman also thanked the Governor for providing 3 functional vehicles to the Labour centers in the state.

TUC commended the increase in revenue from N500 Million to about N1.5 Billion and urged the Board of Internal Revenue and all our workers in the Board of Internal Revenue and other who are in revenue generation outfits to work assiduously and align with His Excellency’s vision of putting our internally generation revenue to N2.5 billion monthly as to increase our workers salary in future. The Association urged the workers to close all leakages to realize the target.

Comrade Okechukwu insisted that the flag off the construction of a $250 million MoU with Africa Project Finance Development to transform Ogbunike Cave into a World Class Resort and Theme Park as well as a $350 million wholesale shopping complex in Ogbunike in Oyi LGA will change the fortunes of tourism and culture in the state, appealing to contractors to ensure they work according to specifications.


The chairman, comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu further called on clergymen, Traditional Rulers, politicians and all Nigerians irrespective of their political interests to do fasting and prayers so that the forthcoming elections will be violence-free.
